Highland Park Water Crisis| (2012)
Highland Park’s mayor in 2012 shut down the city’s water treatment plant and claimed crews are working to repair serious problems that had plagued the facility for months and that the Detroit water and sewerage department would provide water directly to Highland Park residents temporarily but that turned out to permanent and without an actual agreement in place as to charges for services to be billed to the city.
To make matters worse, the Mayor then Mayor Windom sent no water bills out to residents and businesses and when they finally sent bills there were in thousands of dollars and with threats of shut off and that was only the begginning of the troubles and discovery of years of incompentence and mismanagement of billing, funds and payments and broken agreements with Detroit Water and Sewage. The residents and businesses of Highland Park now faced big troubles not of their own fault.
